Do You Implement Power Hour?

May 10, 2021

Power Hour - what is it and should you be implementing one into your day?

Power Hour is a tool that helps you overcome procrastination by providing you a short deadline to focus on one task and get it done. Try it out to find out how effective implementing a Power Hour during the day can be for your productivity. The key is to set a daily Power Hour in your diary and create a meeting for yourself and with yourself to get your tasks done.

How can you ensure your Power Hour is as effective as possible? Below are 5 tips on increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of your daily Power Hour!

1.    Plan your Power Hour before it begins.

Schedule a meeting with yourself. Put time in your diary or else you will let other tasks get in the way. Planning your hour will be one of the most important steps you take in the process. Sometimes planning and understanding what to prioritise can be harder than actually doing the work. Knowing exactly where to start and where to move to next can eliminate unnecessary time spent figuring this out. Remember Power Hour is about getting the most amount of work done as possible and if you know what work you will be doing then this can only set you up for success during this time.

2.    Turn off Unnecessary Devices.

Power hour is supposed to be your most productive hour of the day. That means there is no time for distractions - there is only 60 minutes to get everything done. It’s important to have your mind completely in its productive zone to get the most amount of work and tasks completed as possible. Social media, email and potentially even text messages have the potential to decrease your attention levels and productivity. Switching off your phone or putting it on airplane mode can help with those pestering notifications from friends on Facebook or Instagram that can wait for 60 minutes. Remember, if you don’t see them, they cannot distract you.

3.    Pick your most productive time of the day.

Whether you are most productive or alert in the morning or afternoon - your Power Hour should align with your internal clock. The key to Power Hour is making sure you set yourself up for success in the best way possible. If you are groggy and in need of 2 coffees before you can get any proper work done - then align your Power Hour with this. Once again, it's about maximising your Power Hour and making it work for you in the best way possible, so you can stay focused.

4.    Make sure your mind is ready.

Mentally prepare for your Power Hour. Ensure you haven’t been sitting at a desk for 3 hours prior - maybe this means going for a 5-minute walk outside or doing a short yoga flow. Even having a small meal and a big glass of water can help clear your mind before your hour of power. However, if you are struggling to stay focused, M1ND has been clinically studied as a dietary supplement with exclusive rights to CERA-Q™ which is a powerful protein blend[i].
